10 Dragon Ball Characters Who Should Have Won The Xenoverse 2 DLC Fan Vote

Ultra Instinct -Sign- Goku may have won the vote, but there are plenty of Dragon Ball characters who deserve to be represented in Xenoverse 2

Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball has become such a foundational anime series that it’s crossed over into other forms of media and gained a major presence in the video game industry. It’s fascinating to look at how Dragon Ball video games have evolved over the years. The movie Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was released in 2016, but it continues to turn out new characters and content through DLC material.

The latest DLC addition is Ultra Instinct -Sign- Goku, but since there are already six versions of Goku in Xenoverse 2, including a weaker version of Ultra Instinct, there are some other Dragon Ball characters who would make for more fulfilling inclusions in the fighting game.

10. Bergamo Is Part Of A Deadly Trio Who’s Unscrupulous In A Fight

Bergamo is one of the three werewolves that make up Universe 9’s ferocious Trio of Danger, who briefly give Universe 7 pause in Dragon Ball Super. Bergamo deserves consideration because he was one of the five options available in the fan vote, so he could have nearly made it into Xenoverse 2. Bergamo would certainly play quite differently than Goku, and there’s a deficit of wolf characters in the game while there’s an abundance of Goku options. Bergamo not making the cut likely means that his allies, Lavender and Basil, won’t be options in any future fan votes. However, any member of the Trio of Danger makes for a unique addition to the game.

9. Auta Magetta Is A Giant Robot Who Would Dominate The Battlefield

The characters in Dragon Ball Super from Universe 7 get quite familiar with the strongest fighters from their sister realm, Universe 6. Auta Magetta, a giant robotic individual who’s a part of the Metalman race, is easily one of the most unique fighters that shows up. Auta Magetta could incorporate a unique control scheme due to his huge size and colossal weight. There are no other characters in Xenoverse 2 that offer a comparable experience, and it’d be more akin to a Great Ape than an Android. Xenoverse 2 could even find a way to incorporate the Metalman’s thin skin towards insults.

8. Ultra Ego Vegeta Deserves More Representation Than Another Ultra Instinct

There is no shortage of Vegeta variations to play as in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 - he receives just as much representation as Goku. Still, a Dragon Ball GT version of Vegeta was one of the choices in the fan vote, and it’s not surprising that it lost considering it seems like it just amounts to a poor haircut since Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta is already present. If any new version of Vegeta should get added then it’s Ultra Ego Vegeta, the character’s newest transformation and a ferocious counterpoint to Goku’s Ultra Instinct.

7. Botamo Is A Big Ball Of Brute Strength

Malleability and the use of a doughy constitution as a means to absorb blows and avoid attacks is a surprisingly popular trope in battle anime. Botamo is one of Universe 6’s strongest, and he bears an eerie resemblance to Winnie the Pooh if the character became obsessed with the gym. Botamo is another Dragon Ball Super character whose unique control scheme would make up for the lower-tier nature of the character. He’s popular enough that it’s a bit of a surprise that he’s not already in Xenoverse 2.

6. Audiences Are Ready To Get A Shot As Granolah, Surviving Cerealian

The Dragon Ball Super anime triumphantly concludes with the resolution of the Tournament of Power, but the corresponding manga has gotten much further along in the narrative. Granolah is one of the more fascinating characters to come around in a while and he bears a strong resemblance to many of the characters that Toriyama designed for a number of video game series, like Chrono Trigger. Granolah is the last of his Cerealian kind and although he enters the series as a villain, he’s since developed into an understanding ally for Goku and Vegeta against a greater evil. Granolah has a litany of techniques that would be so much fun to control.

5. Dyspo Is One Of The Fastest In The Universe And Does The Pride Troopers Proud

Dyspo is one of Universe 11’s Pride Troopers, alongside characters like Jiren and Top, both of whom have made it onto the roster in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. Dyspo is strong, but he also has the reputation as one of the fastest fighters in the universe, and not enough characters in the game play around with speed. Dyspo is one of the five characters who were put up for the fan vote, but his extreme speed couldn’t compete with the allure of Ultra Instinct. Dyspo's character design is strangely reductive of Beerus and Champa, but his abilities would be such an exciting change of pace.

4. Gas Is The New Big Villain Who Fights With A Unique Approach

Gas, a member of the tyrannical Heeter Force, is the latest and greatest antagonist to show up in Dragon Ball Super. Gas received a frightening power boost courtesy of a dangerous combination of the Dragon Balls and the removal of his power inhibitor. Gas is a addicted that could that could operate a much like Broly in his Berserker state. However, the fight between Gas and Goku has been one of the more creative battles in a long time due to Gas’ Gravity Cage and Restraint Cube maneuvers. It’s an attack style that’s completely different from Dragon Ball’s norm.

3. Merus Is The Right Mix Of Strong And Sleek And Deserves A Shot

Merus is another powerful character who remains exclusive to the Dragon Ball Super manga but is too important to overlook. Merus, like Jaco, is a member of the prestigious Galactic Patrol, but he’s at the top of the team and has achieved legendary status. Merus also greatly benefits from his roots as an Angel. Merus is a gentle soul and his training of Goku is essential in the Saiyan’s ability to master Ultra Instinct -Sign- in the first place. Merus’ Angel attacks and Galactic Patrol protocols are a winning combination.

2. Arale From Dr. Slump Is Just Weird Enough To Work

Akira Toriyama is responsible for several popular series besides Dragon Ball, and one of his biggest successes is Dr. Slump, a comedic gag series. The central character in Dr. Slump, Arale Norimaki, is an incredibly powerful and precocious robot who looks like a young girl. Arale has shown up several times in Dragon Ball and even beats up Goku and Vegeta in Dragon Ball Super. Arale has also made her way into numerous Dragon Ball video games and has earned her right to be able to fight against the series’ best. She’d be an incredibly fun fighter.

1. Omni-King Zeno’s Ultimate Strength Could Be For The Expert Players

Zeno may not look like much, and he bears more of a resemblance to someone who’s at the level of Oolong and Puar, not the ruler of the multiverse who’s strong enough to wipe out an entire universe on a whim. Zeno’s unfathomable strength is a strong reason for why he hasn’t already become playable in Xenoverse 2, but there are ways around his game-breaking abilities. Restrictions to Zeno’s strength could be worked into the gameplay and fighting games have a reputation with overpowered characters, like Street Fighter’s Akuma, who are in a league of their own.
